Statement of School Philosophy



A. The religious goals of St. Viator School are:


To develop in each student the knowledge of God as a loving Parent.

To develop within the student an appreciation of the Mass, Sacraments, Scriptures and prayer as vital and beautiful expressions of Christian life.

To guide the student in developing religious values including the realization that action of love toward others are a means of expressing God's presence in self and others.


B. The social goals of St. Viator School are:


To develop an awareness of the individual's role in a Christian Community

To encourage the social skills of communication with others in a responsive and positive way.

To form in the student a social conscience and awareness of the need for social reform.

To emphasize the family as a unit of society where love, understanding and respect are fostered.


C. The intellectual goals of St. Viator are:


To expose the student to a sequential and challenging curriculum of studies leading to the ability to make appropriate decisions in life situations.

To work with the student in seeking knowledge as its own motivation and reward, developing creativity, and establishing good study habits.

To help each student reach his/her full potential in the attainment of knowledge.


D. The physical and psychological goals of St. Viator School are:

To help the student develop and maintain a healthy and positive self-image and instill an awareness of responsibility for one's own actions.

To help each student develop physical fitness.

To develop good sportsmanship.

To provide health education and health screening.


E. The cultural goals of St. Viator School are:

To develop an appreciation of the arts.

To encourage creative expression to enhance the curriculum.
